New European Visits
18th July 2006

Following the announcement from Quick 1888 that they would be unable to continue the exchanges between our two clubs that had been so successful over the last nineteen years we would like to place on record our very sincere appreciation for hospitality shown to this Club by the officials, supporters and players of Quick 1888 over the years. We are also sure that the many personal friendships that have been built over those years will continue even though our two clubs will no longer be exchanging visits.

Wishing to continue our exchanges with a club from Holland we are pleased to announce that following recent discussions with officials of SV-Orion Football Club of Nijmegen we have received an invitation to visit their Club in 2007. We have accepted that invitation and look forward to our visit that we hope will be the first step in the building of a truly friendly relationship between our two clubs.

SV Orion are in the process of building a new clubhouse and ground and expect their new facility to be open in time for our visit. For information on SV Orion visit their website: www.sv-orion.nl

Congratulations to our Girls Under 14 Team, for on Wednesday 3rd May 2006 their season finally came to an end with a victory over Littlehampton Girls in their second play-off game for runners up spot in the League. Senior Team 2 Retain Croshaw Cup!
25th April 2006

After a disappointing performance in their first final last week Team 2 showed they had not lost their desire for silverware, winning the Croshaw Cup for the second year in succession. Team 2 went ahead in the 19th minute adding a second shortly after. Although Lancing United reduced the arrears before the half-time break. In the second half, a sound performance saw Team 2 add a third without reply.

24th April 2006

Congratulations to Jon Cook, Steve Fair and the boys of our Under 12-A Team. On Sunday 23rd April 2006 they won the Arun & Chichester Youth F.L. Under 12 League Challenge Cup. After a slow start against Rustington Otters which saw Adur trailing 1-0 at half-time, they came out in the second half determined to show what they were capable of, and a great display of good team work and finishing saw the team through to a well deserved 4-1 victory.
Under 18s Sportmanship Trophy
24th April 2006

Congratulations also to Steve Whiting and his Under 18 Team who have won the Arun & Chichester Youth F.L. Under 18s Sportmanship Trophy, setting a great example to the younger teams in the Club that you can be both competitive and play the game in the right spirit."
A Great Double for our Under 12-B Team
19th April 2006

Congratulations again to David, Ian and the boys of our Under 12-B Team who, on Wednesday 12th April, added the Under 12 League Challenge Trophy to the League Championship they had aleady won. Playing Denton & South Heighton from Division 2 Adur found themselves a goal down after only two minutes, but showed great character in fighting back and levelling the score during the first half. With no further score in the second half the game went to extra time, and with only two minutes remaining Adur scored the all important goal to make sure of a great double. Well done to all concerned.

Our commiserations go to the Under 18s who, the same evening, lost their League Challenge Cup Final to a strong Bognor team.

Commiserations also to Senior Team 2 who, on Tuesday 18th April, lost their AM Trophies Final to local rivals Shoreham RBL by the only goal of the match despite creating far more chances which, unusually for the team, they failed to convert.

Under 12b team celebrating!

Under 15 cup winners
11th April 2006

Congratulations to our Under 15-A Team who on Sunday 9th April were the first of our Cup Finalists to play. Playing against Thistle A in the Under 15 Invitation Cup Final our boys started brightly and against the run of play went behind after about 15 minutes. For the rest of the 1st half Adur were somewhat subdued but held on to the half-time whistle without conceding any further goals. In the second half Adur were by far the better team and deservedly went on to win the game 2-1.

Let's hope that all of our other cup final teams do as well.

Club House and Ground Development
25th January 2006

The plans displayed have been prepared in conjunction with the approval of the Football Association in respect of our forthcoming planning application.

You will see that the proposal is to create a building that will provide senior and junior changing facilities, a clubhouse function/meeting area and store for ground maintenance.

The proposal indicates 2 senior football pitches, 2 youth soccer football pitches, 2 mini soccer football pitches. The development will assist and meet the demands of the growth in ladies/girls interest in football locally. In addition an all weather wicket for the playing of cricket and stoolball will be provided.

The proposal includes on site car parking and will provide a much needed facility for the 18 teams currently playing football for Adur Athletic, which has been providing football in the area since 1968. We are the only football club in the district having been awarded the Football Association Charter Standard Community Club Award.

The sports pitch development will include the resurfacing of a large part of the recreation ground making it safe and suitable for sporting activities.

It is proposed that the clubhouse facility will be available to other sporting organisations within the Adur District and operating on an all year round basis.

It is hoped that community courses will be run from the building including summer coaching schools for boys and girls within the Adur area, out of school clubs and a community facility that can be utilised by agreement for school children throughout the Adur District.

It is proposed that the project, which has received preliminary approval from the Football Association, will be funded by the Football Foundation along with grants from other national sporting bodies and funds raised from within the Club.

It is felt that this project will provide a much needed sporting facility for the Adur District which at present struggles to meet its demands and will assist in providing essential much needed space for other developing sports clubs.

For further information regarding this proposal, you can contact either Richard Ball from Adur Athletic on 01273 823723 or Richard Morrice of Miller Bourne Architects on 01273 779311.
